Welcome to our new blog

Following growth in the Auckland region, we now have a coordinator who will focus on Manurewa and Papakura schools to deliver Computers in Homes to parents. Jo Hampton takes over the reins from Cara Sefuiva who has successfully coordinated CiH programmes at Mansell Senior School, Roscommon School and many others across the Auckland region. Cara will continue to work with schools in the rest of Auckland.

Jo Hampton has a background in teaching computer skills to adults, with experience of managing programmes in schools. She is also a local, having gone to Rosehill Intermediate and Rosehill College many years ago. After a 20+ year stint in the UK, she has been back home since 2011 running a CV writing business and tutoring learners in the workplace. She joined Computers in Homes in October 2015.

The founding mission of the programme is

‘To provide all New Zealand families who are socially and economically disadvantaged with a computer, an Internet connection, relevant training and technical support’.

And key goals are to
  • Empower low socio-economic communities to become active participants in the online world.
  • Provide children from these communities with access to online educational resources from home.
